WinRAR 7.11 Released – Smarter Archiving and Essential Bug Fixes
Berlin, March 25th 2025: WinRAR, the leading file compression and archiving software, has just launched version 7.11, introducing smarter file management and essential stability improvements.
The latest update improves the archiving process by preventing accidental overwrites when adding multiple archives from the disk root. WinRAR now intelligently suggests unique filenames, ensuring safer and more efficient file organization. For example, if a user has multiple project archives in D:\, such as project1.rar and project2.rar, and wants to bundle them into a new archive, earlier versions might have suggested a name that could unintentionally overwrite an existing file. With WinRAR 7.11, the new archive will be named project1_rar.rar, preserving all files without accidental data loss.
Additionally, version 7.11 resolves key issues identified in real-world usage of WinRAR 7.10, including a checksum error affecting solid archives, improved handling of CAB extractions, enhanced SFX module behavior, more precise volume splitting, and strengthened security for executable symlinks.
