WinRAR 5.31 final released!

Berlin, 10th February 2016 — win.rar GmbH and RARLAB.COM are proud to present the latest update of the world"s leading compression and archive management software WinRAR 5.31. This upgrade has been released to fix some minor issues which appeared during usage of the previous version.

Corrections in Windows high DPI mode and WinRAR interface improvements

If the Windows text settings have been set to 150% or larger, the font in the WinRAR help menu was not increased accordingly, resulting in too small text for the user. Furthermore, default columns width in WinRAR file list was less than expected 125% or larger Windows text setting. Now with the update to 5.31 these issues have been corrected and WinRAR displays the same sizes as chosen in Windows.

The WinRAR interface has also been improved for right-to-left languages. The buttons in multi-page dialogs are now aligned correctly and translated to default Windows display language.

Bug Fixes

For security reasons security issues have been fixed to close possible vulnerabilities. WinRAR SFX module could load DLL libraries from its own executable folder as a result of calling some Windows API functions. It could lead to a security threat if DLL files with malicious code were stored in the same folder as SFX archive. Now SFX module takes additional steps to prevent such a situation in Windows Vista and later. Please be aware that Windows XP users can still be affected, so they must be extra careful to run SFX archive from a folder with suspicious DLL files.

Furthermore, WinRAR 5.30 failed to run .lnk files from file list, this problem has also been eliminated.
