WinRAR 6.20 final released

The final version of WinRAR 6.20 is ready for download!
Berlin, January 23th, 2023: RARLAB.COM and win.rar GmbH are pleased to present the final release of WinRAR 6.20. The latest WinRAR release features faster RAR5 compression, automatic password processing and improved repair command efficiency as well as many usability enhancements. WinRAR is constantly being improved to provide users with a stable and reliable software for compressing, securing, and archiving their personal data.
Automatic Password Processing
If the "Autodetect passwords" option in the “Organize passwords” dialog is enabled and a password matching a processing archive is present among the saved passwords, WinRAR will automatically use passwords for RAR5 and ZIP archives. WinRAR users can find this option under File > Set Default Password > Organize Passwords. In addition, there is also a minor change to the detection of incorrect passwords for ZIP archives. If the stored passwords don’t include a proper one, and an encrypted ZIP archive extraction fails, the user can try to disable this option, repeat the extraction and enter a valid password manually.
Faster RAR5 Compression
RAR5 compression has been improved for poorly compressible data on modern CPUs with 8 or more execution threads. This applies to all compression methods except "Fastest", where performance remains the same.
Improved Repair Command Efficiency
The efficiency of the repair command has been increased for “shuffled data blocks” in RAR5 archives with recovery record protection. This enhances the functionality of repairing damaged data in WinRAR. If an archive is protected with recovery records, it can now be repaired even if it has been damaged due to a defect on a disk or in case of other data loss. The ZIP format, in comparison, doesn’t support recovery records at all. In addition, the size of recovery records is now displayed on the archive page of the file properties in Explorer.
